Yes, you guessed it: WE’RE GONNA PLAY WITH FIRE NOW!!!!!
okay so, i found this awesome way to make things light on fire in Maya 2013!! And i’m gonna teach you guys how to do it too! Why? Cause it’s fun to do and isn’t so life threatening like actual fire.
We need an object; something that will survive the blazing flames from our virtual world. Oh I know: How about that ball we were animating! Don’t worry it will only suffer 3rd GB burns, it’ll live.
So, in Maya I want you to open up that ball animation you guys have been working on. okay we are half way there!!! Now go into the tab above the creating field that is labeled “Dynamics”. In that tab, there will be a bunch of different add ons you can put on your object. By the way, please make sure you selected your object before you click on one of the add ons. Now, there is an add on that, I swear to you, is a ball that is on fire. Click on it, and then press the play button to your animation(oh also, make sure your animation is at the first frame, or the beginning, before clicking on the fire).
And BAM! FIRE!!! OH MY GOD GET THE FIREMEN!
if you don’t think those green blobs are fire, render one of the frames(it’s the thing at the top of the program that looks like a movie take thingy) and you will see the awesomeness of the fire!
